The past few months have been very slow for business development here at FreshUp. While focusing on service to current clients and my move to Houston I’ve had little time to expand.
All in all I should be back to building the FreshUp by around the end of October.
I’ll keep everyone updated on the progress of projects that I’m embarking upon under the name of FreshUp.
Meanwhile send me an email with your website maintenance problems and I’ll see if I can help you. If you like my idea maybe you could hire me to implement it, if it’s simple enough, do it yourself. No charge!
You’ll find me @tertius.
If you’re running an online business you need to be on twitter. While you’re there, follow me.
I’ll add some link posts about exploiting twitter and try it myself once my emmigration is complete!
Some great posts from FutureNow this month. Liked the post about getting reviews and ultimately credibility.
I needed to read the post about Writing time based on energy. Zero energy as I’m writing this.

Here’s a list of things that I find glamourous.
- Coding away at my soon to be discovered webapp turned startup.
- Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro with my brother (and maybe twittering about it).
- Sitting on the beach at Camps Bay in Cape Town, South Africa with my Fiancee watching the sunset.
- Hearing a lion roar in real life.
- Walking along the Namib desert.
You’ll see that my list doesn’t include “Website Maintenance”.
Focus on Glamour
My point is the following: outsourcing the non-glamourous things in your business gives you a lot more time to do the glamourous things in business (and life) like planning and developing products, running after your dreams.
One of the reasons that I offer Website Maintenance services is because I have become very quick at the tasks that are required and I have people that I work with that are the same. So I spend much less time on something that would take the average business owner a lot of time to do. I want business owners and employees to be free to focus on the glamourous while I maintain something that will help them get there.
The question I ask myself all the time: Is your time worth more or less than someone else is willing to charge for this job?
Other options?
If your business and your pocket is big enough I’d suggest that you hire someone to do Maintenance for your full time. If not then outsourcing with a firm that communicates well and delivers on time is one of the best decisions you’ll make.
